Space Shuttle

We took our first major outing with all four kids to go see the space shuttle, Discovery, launch for the last time. We drove about an hour over to the coast and found a good spot along the river about 10 miles away from Cape Canaveral (the picture's small, but if you look really hard you can see a building just above the rainbow umbrella. The launch pad is just to the left of that building). Then settled in to wait for 3 hours until the launch.

After months of delays and what looked like it was going to be a last minute cancellation, the shuttle finally launched!

Unfortunately the drive back was a complete parking lot of miles around and it took us well over 3 hours to get home, but we all survived and it was an amazing thing to witness!
