Both Kellen and Toben are doing well and slowly but surely working on everything they need to do before they can come home. Kellen has been off oxygen since Thursday and came off of his IV this afternoon - we're losing cords and wires, hooray! Toben is still on minimal IV support and will hopefully be done with that tomorrow. They are both taking mostly bottles though they often don't have enough energy to completely finish and have to have the last several ounces through the feeding tube. I was able to attempt nursing both of them today - Kellen was pretty indifferent, Toben did well for a few minutes but nothing crazy. Toben has a bit of jaundice and started photo-therapy (blue lights) tonight. Hopefully the lights will bring his levels into line quickly since the therapy is tiring and typically pushes babies a step backwards on eating. They are both still in the incubators but currently not using them to maintain heat. Their temps are a bit low, but they can hold their own heat when dressed warmly.
Caiden and Rylan are both fighting colds (low fevers, runny noses, lots of coughing) and definitely seem to be feeling our absence. We need them to get healthy really, really soon! We hung around the house more yesterday and today and only made quick visits to the NICU. It seemed to help Caiden and Rylan to spend a little more time with us and Caiden especially seems more centered than he did on Friday. It's been great having my mom here to stay with them in their own house and routine but I know they're old enough to feel the difference and us being gone so I'm glad we were able to love on them a little extra this weekend.
Filling these lovely, little containers has been the main focus of my days (and nights).
Logan is doing awesome being a rock for all of us. He decided to take a 2 month break from school and while it's unfortunate to have to do that it's been necessary to relieve that extra stress with everything else we have on our plates. He's mostly fighting off the cold the kids have so far and hopefully we will all be healthy very soon!
Our church's staff sent us these flowers - what a great group of folks! Caiden keeps talking about how beautiful the flowers are and telling me to smell them :)
so glad to hear an update! the flowers are beautiful! praying for you often!
