Pumpkin Patch

Well it took lots of googling, calling around and an hour of driving into the boonies but we finally found a farm in Florida with a pumpkin patch! (Pretty much everything else you see here is a huge pile of pumpkins on the front lawn of a church - that's it!)

It was well worth the drive - the place was great! Petting zoo, pony rides (which was actually horses and ponies led around a small pond, not the usual tiny ring of tied up, tired ponies), face painting, corn maze, every kind of farm animal you'd expect (plus peacocks), lots of tiny baby animals, tractor rides, fishing, hot dogs, snow cones, cotton candy, bouncy slide and of course pumpkins.

Not surprisingly, Caiden had a blast. Rylan loved all the animals until she got close enough to touch or ride them, then she didn't want anything to do with it (In fact, I can't believe we got this picture of her reaching for the horse. The picture with the chick tells a much more accurate story.)

Rylan's favorite thing at the whole farm was this bouncy blue ball and a larger red one they had. She went back to play with it many, many times.

You can't tell in the picture but Caiden loved riding the horse and did it several times. He kept tipping his hat and saying, "Yee-haw". After he was done he told us he was a cowboy just like Woody.

It is so weird to see a normal farm in the Florida landscape. A herd of horses grazing in a field under the palm trees just feels like something's off! It was hot again today (more than usual for this time of year) but we still really enjoyed ourselves.

Rylan grunted, groaned and picked up every pumpkin she passed in the patch.

We finally found just the right one and Caiden wheeled it up and paid the lady - cute!
