SOLD!

We closed on our house in Colorado on Friday. God was clearly taking care of us through the whole process - a lot of "that should never happen" moments kept occurring.

We placed the house on the market in mid-May. We had been renting it out for the past year but could not rent it for enough to cover all the expenses and no longer had the ability to keep dumping money into it. Within 4 days it had shown several times and we had a solid, cash offer! Unreal in this market.

The plan was to close at the end of July and we started all the various hoops of the short sale process. Within several days of getting all the necessary bank approvals, the sellers called and said they had just lost their job so they were terminating the deal. :(

We put the house back on the market and in less than a week we had another offer for $5000 more and the same end of July closing date - are you kidding me?!

Now the house has closed and the new owners are happily moving in. We are relieved to have the hassle and financial stress of the house behind us, but now that it belongs to someone else I find myself also a little sad to be done with our first house.

We bought this house 6 years ago when we were in our mid-twenties with no kids. We have many good memories there of BBQ's, holidays, birthdays, bringing home our first 2 babies, playing with our dogs, getting buried in the snow, struggling to get home on the icy hills, walks/runs through our neighborhood forest, fireside chats in the cool mountain air...

Hours of time spent painting every square inch inside and out, cutting down loads of pine trees, raking millions of pine needles, replacing appliances, building dog houses, flower gardens grown, loads and loads and loads of snow shoveled....

It's hard to believe that our kids will never remember having lived there.

We are thrilled that everything worked out so amazingly well with the sale and will always look back fondly on our first house.
