Four

Caiden is 4 years old. I think I'm supposed to be shocked and sad at how fast the time is going but somehow it doesn't seem that strange that he is four. Maybe that's because he's been talking about turning 4 for at least the past 6 months, but I think it's also because he just seems like a much big kid to me these days.

It's always fun when your actual birthday falls on a Saturday.

We met some friends at the park for cupcakes and play time.

Then came home and opened presents from family near and far.

Caiden is a very talkative four year old - he asks lots of questions (of course) but also works to create a conversation with anyone he's around (often doing a surprisingly good job of coming up with a topic that specific person would be interested in). He has a great memory and can give you directions (and street names) to most of the places we frequently go.

He is an amazing older brother. He is so sweet with the twins - great at making them smile, patient to calm them when they're upset and obviously loves them very much. He and Rylan are best buds (not that they don't constantly squabble) but you can tell their bond is tight. He loves superheros, guns, swords and is always looking for someone to rescue. He has a very tender heart and has yet to meet someone who is not his friend. He is clearly a leader but also cares for others.

Ever since the moment he came into this world, a tiny 4 pounder screaming his lungs out, Caiden has also clearly been an emotional child. He is struggling lately learning how to get control of those emotions and we have been through quite a few unbelievable fits. We pray that he will continue to learn self-control and that this next year will continue to deepen his love of Jesus and others.
